Yet this was possibly the best time for my granddad die.

I had my profile filming last night and was going through pictures of times gone by, as my tears rolled down my cheeks. they asked me: why are you crying? I said, oh my granddad is 98 and I just don't know how much longer he will be here. I visited him on Christmas along with my mum, sister and my partner.
This morning I put on my black outfit- I don't wear a lot of black. today I did.
And at 11:22 I had a message. Papy ( that's how we called him) has just fallen asleep. kisses, Mum.

I screamed and cried. I loved my granddad. He was so special to me. He was the funniest and most serious man I know- he 's the man who paid for my piano lessons as a kid and got me to the theatre...( ok and he dragged me to way too many museums)

when we visted him, he asked Thomas about Greenland's dependance on Denmark and weather they had their own stamps.
He would lecture about the main industries of Malaysia, world history and of course the history of the church. He knew sooo much!
I still don't, because I keep thinking: how on earth does he keep all this information in his head?

He had a good time when we were there and my sisters invention of creme cointreau, a sweet desert tastefully disguising the protein powder was the last thing he insisted of eating.

Walter Oppenheim was a diplomat who was responsible for paying out compensation money to the Jewish people on behalf of the German government after world war 2. He was of Jewish origin, having survived working camps and imprisonment.

It must have taken some guts to work for the German government after the war. The way he saw it was that the real Germans weren't in the country when Hitler took over.
He set a good example of what it means to be German. He was very cultured, intelligent, curious and would get out of his own way to help others.

I think of him as an inspiration.

Tomorrow is my first live performance on THE ONE AND ONLY. I am dedicating it to my granddad.

Thank you for your support and good wishes.
warning: may have lasting uplifting effect.

But to actually become so strong in yourself that you go ahead with joy to realize you can create this dream and then do it, that takes something else...and I got that from the chris howard training. In the beginning I thought: oh no this american stuff is not for me, I don't want a mass hyper super guru telling me what I know anyway. But then thihttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.photo.gifs guy really has good, very good, very very good points, tools and techniques. I can say this is genuinely good.

There is a Breakthrough to Success Event coming up 28th -30th of September which is valued at £1790 for 2 but you can come for free by clicking on the link below. I am an affiilate for this- cause I've done it and it works very very well for me. If you have any questions about it, drop me a line- check out the website..whatever it takes. I am not here to spam you and sell you things you don't need- this is important for everybody who wants to achieve more, make more of their life and understand HOW it works.

http://champions.christopherhoward.co.uk/ukbts.asp?cli=CLO2050260

Next up:

Dr John Demartini is coming to London for 2 nights to give very powerful talks.

I highly recommend him. He was told he couldn't not read, not write nor ever communicate when we was a kid, and became a Dr. who studied thousands of scriptures. He is amazing, I saw him at Akasha recently. He got a 3 minute standing ovation. Passion and knowledge mixed- I came to strong concusions during his talk...like: I am ready to hit it now- let's leave the day job and go for it big time. And so that's what's happening! Needless to say meeting with potential manager coming up, I got 3 gigs in September, new coaching clients on board- it's a virtuous cycle.

PS: go on the 13th cause the 12th is diva eve time ;-)

the price for a ticket is £39 but I am affiliated with triumphant events so I can tickets for free!

Enjoy.

Lots of love,

Eve x

warning: may have lasting uplifting effect.

As they say- obstacles only arise when you are moving forward.
When you are static, there is no obstacle.

I must have been moving a heck of a lot! The thing about drive is it can also drive you crazy. Now I know that I am the driver and it is my responsibility to take control of my life, including my driving style and skills.
Try and tell me that when I am in my race and you are likely to land under my wheels!
It’s when the fuel runs out and the next station is too far away that reflection mode starts to resurface.

In my case- I am taking action towards my dream. My dream board shows me the things I want in my life and motivates me to go forward, I have attended seminars and courses, my focus is clear and my commitment is strong.
Here we go, watch out world, here I come!

I manage my time: The day job takes most of the day- hence the name. So there is the morning and the evening. And lunch break.
And weekends. Within that time, I am looking for managers, record deals, set up my gig, build my mailing list, take care of my body, my mind, my soul, my friendships, family oh and I have a relationship as well.

I have a room to clean, bills to pay, people to coach, songs to write.
There is music to promote and “get out there” as much as I can, and social sites to chat on so that more people become interested in what I do.
Then of course there needs to be time for training and cooking and shopping- and I’m not even talking clothes. And practise the skills I learn. NLP without using it- how useful is it? Education, reading time, etc. pp

Well as I write this it’s easy to see that I would exhaust myself eventually.
Why run around and do all this? So that I can live my dream!
My dream of inspiring millions of people through my music and who I am, connecting them their core and then giving it that little nudge to a more blissful place. It’s about the joy, the pure bliss of being alive and to shine the light that makes us beam from inside out.

That’s my dream! I see myself on big stages, I see myself on TV, I see myself out there getting people to get on with it and step up. I see myself stepping up over and over again. I see people’s lives changing around me, I see courage growing and I see children with happy faces. I see myself educating the educators and the results on the kids. I see families communicating better with each other and nurturing the love. Relationships are a skill- I am so passionate about people learning about it (including myself).

I see myself meeting incredible people- people who have made powerful decisions for themselves and took the leap of faith and went for it and therefore improved their life, their energy and with that other’s.

I have a dream! I see fear melted into courage by the power of our conviction. I see that in a healthy balance- an evolved maturity, wisdom that is there for us to tap into.
I see myself travelling with amazing people making changes by bringing the tools and the message and the love round the planet. I want to be involved in helping people build their lives and bring out that irresistible sparkle in their eyes. Your eyes.

So what I need to do is take action. And I do. And I do more. And more- what else can I do? Ok how about this and that, every day of action is a day closer to the dream surely, come on, what’s next? There is so much to do!
Oh do I have to go to work today? I am done with working, it seems like such a waste of my time, I have so many important things to do like changing the world and stuff. My job is in the way. Without the job, where does the money come from? Remember there was a time I tried to do that? I ended up very very tired and stressed out. Remember those days in hospital?

It’s always easier to see from the outside what’s going on- you can probably see how that frantic way of going about it all would get you where I got.

We are after all human beings. There is wisdom in the word.
We were not called human doings. We are spiritual beings having a human experience- yet that experience can get so intense; I like to believe it’s more real than anything else.

So I get ill. Sinus infection this time. Pressure build up in my cavities and it hurts.
Everyone gets their lessons in different ways. I wish for mine to be more subtle- and actually they are, I just tend to ignore it when they are. I wish for myself to become more attentive to what’s going on and what it’s about for me.

Living the dream has a lot to do with living. Living is a day by day process and very much about the now. I would say I enjoy what I do; I admit I do get caught up in it, which makes me think some parts are better than others.
Like work no good, music very good. I remember a time where that was flipped around.Everything depends on how we think about things. If we allow that time to actually think about things. I get too busy doing my thing sometimes and I will defend that that’s the right way because when you think you are obviously not doing it so what’s the point?!

The point is balance. The point is connection. The point is ease.
One step at a time. It’s easier to grow wings that way.
As an inspirational musical boy band proclaimed (New Kids on the Block –good work): step by step oh baby.

They made it quite far. No idea what became of them…

Here is the tip of the day:
Do not run after your dream. Dreams don’t run away unless you run. And they run at least as fast as you.

This is my journey and I can choose to have an easy one. And that means I take it easy on myself.
It’s part of the deal.

The new question is hence: how can I be at ease today knowing what I know now and remembering what I need to, what action would I love to take today?

I better write that one down…next to the dream board.

Have a great day, whatever you do- just for the pure sake of it.
Let’s be happy for no good reason.

Diva Eve xx

<a title="Let's get away" href="http://www.last.fm/music/Diva+Eve/+playlists/864203" target="_blank" style="background: transparent url(http://panther1.last.fm/widgets/images/en/header/playlist/regular_blue.png) no-repeat scroll 0pt -20px; He had
nothing planned for afterwards and as he had climbed up the tower
standing on the top, he felt the nothingness surrounding him and
his world tumbled like house made from playing cards.

What about the business whiz who starting his company at 19 finds
himself lost and without direction, having done so well from the
start, now 24 and restless?

Wanting and getting is not the key to being fulfilled.

What about not wanting and getting it?

We often appreciate most what we worked hard for, yet we can also
appreciate what comes naturally. At the end of the day, and even in
the beginning, appreciation is about being happy about what you
have regardless of the way you got it.

When I ask people what they are most proud about in their life, I
often hear, i.e. the birth of their child (Men and women alike).
Very few say the best thing ever was the pay raise or the job they
wanted. What did they work harder for?

I find it fascinating how-when it comes down to it, most humans put
more meaning into emotional basic events than mental creations
(dreams, goals, plans etc).
Being happy has nothing to do with achieving your dreams.
Happiness is not something outside yourself. You do not need to
spend big money on getting it though it seems that many people
bottle and sell it (and why wouldn't they..)

Some things will bring you pleasure and that can trigger happiness
but the decision weather you will let yourself be happy or not is
always with you. You will find that what may cause you to be happy
today might not have the same effect tomorrow.

Now this may sound as if you just needed to say: I want to be happy
and you are happy.
But who is "I"?
We all have many different parts that make up our personality and
character, all that we call "me".
Our conscious mind, our unconscious, our past, our present, our
ideas, education etc. affect us in the way we think, feel and
perceive ourselves.

Know thyself

I find that knowing yourself and your changeable nature is very valuable. We all change and this is what life is about. Change is the only constant in life. What I like today, I may get bored of tomorrow, what I want tomorrow, may be meaningless today. What this
shows us is simply where we are. Our "liking", "wanting", "needing"
allow us to experience ourselves in relation to the world.

What does this mean in relation to living our dream? Going for our
full potential?
If what we dream and want is of a changing nature, hanging on to it
too much can't be too healthy.
Some people make it more important than themselves and as
fascinating as it may be that they do so, it makes no sense to me
at all.

How can something you want to do, be, have, be bigger than you?
For me, my life is about me. I don't mean this exclusively
egoistically. But I will include it.

To live my potential, all I really need to do is to feel myself
-and desires will come that inspire me to take action (or not). I
have a choice of listening to this and follow. There is nobody
judging you on this. It's totally between you and you.

Sometimes I wonder about the term self "fulfilment" itself: Is
there a hole inside of us we need to fill?
I know it feels like it sometimes. And I know that from that hole,
that feeling of nothingness comes inspiration, ideas, creation,
moving forward. The hole is also space; breeding ground...
The emptiness has the greatest potential for everything.

To feel myself fully to me is self-fulfilment.

So why get obsessed about realizing one idea?
Why beat yourself up if you can't seem to get what you wanted or
may I say...thought you wanted.
How about looking at it from a perspective of feeling yourself and
your ideas, your life. Detach. Relax. Chances are you get it when
you don't chase it too much. (I don't really know yet if it means
you will actually get it, but I'll tell you when I do.)

Our dreams and goals are not dogmas we have to follow. They are
motivating guidelines that give us direction and a promising view
of the future. This in return helps us create more pleasure and
energy for others and ourselves. If a goal doesn't inspire you, it
has lost its purpose.

So what inspires you today? What is your goal, your dream?

I like to think about having achieved all the musical and artistic
success I dream about: the concerts, the book signings, those happy
faces I get to look at whose lives have changed for the better, the
songs in the charts, the fancy dresses, the wonderful people around
me....and look back on my life. I think: I loved it all turned out so
well, there was no way to see why it suddenly worked, but it did.
The only thing I wish I had done is spending more time growing
friendships and nourishing my family. That always gave me pleasure.
I wish I had had more time for the little things in life.
I'm only 1.55m (5'2 or so) after all.

Take care!
Eve

PS: recommeded song: Yoga -babe by Diva Eve...don't mess with me cause I do Yoga babe, yeah! available on itunes: search for Diva Eve or of course on the album Who's your Diva?!
www.divaeve.com or buy the album for £7.99 through Paypal

warning: may have lasting uplifting effect.

Suddenly you realize your whole life would change and what glistened as a golden opportunity on the horizon now takes shape... So the job pays more and it comes with a car and what exactly is expected of you? How many miles do you have to drive each week? Will they turn your life to hell?

We all know the feeling- when change is about to happen, it gets scary. From the first visit abroad to the job change, from leaving school to getting married, change is a vital part of life, we all know it so why would we be afraid?

And then comes the heroism of the coaching world, catapulting you into a state of mind in which decisiveness is your true identity and nothing will stop you. YES, YOU CAN DO IT!

Until...you are back out there, on your own asking yourself: but what if it doesn't work out as I want it to? How will it be? Is this all theory?

There are many ways in which we can conquer our fear.
However, to believe that the fear is our enemy and must be overcome, to me, is a bit of a stale old hat.

I am done with making fear the enemy, just as I am done with using self blame to explain why things haven't happened the way I wanted them to before.

So are we back to feel the fear and do it anyway?
I would like to say that the way to deal with your fear should depend on the kind of fear, the thoughts behind it and most of all you.

We are all different in many ways and what I call fear may be a composition of a certain set of emotions and thoughts, that is totally different from what your fear might entail.

Usually our fear is made up from a chain of thoughts projecting an unknown future result that may be imagined as unpleasant. Have you ever met anyone who has become a great master of painting the picture with all the possible problem routes in their mind? I certainly have been trained extensively in problem painting. In the same time I could paint a picture of roses and beauty, but that would be naïve.
Being grown up and mature, we know better than that.

Or should we not paint a picture at all as to not be disappointed and not loose ourselves in non-existing ideals? That is a more Buddhist approach-acknowledging all that is as an illusion...

My observation is that without a picture, I can be pleasantly surprised of the outcome or still not like it but there is a certain distance, as I am not constantly measuring it against what it was in my mind. That has benefits and weaknesses. I like to feel enrolled in my experience and love the buzz of things being even better than expected. And also in my mind, pictures come in quicker than the decision not to have them.

But is it really the pictures in our mind that determine how we feel? Is the expectation the real problem?
Or is there something else?
Have you ever expected something, and when it turned out differently and you were angry?
Ok, have you ever expected something, things turned out differently and you didn't mind?

The more useful question to ask is: what do we make of the experience?
If we measure against how things 'should' be, we are more likely to get angry. When we can allow things to be the way they are, we are more likely to keep flowing.

So what about fear... if fear is a chain of pictures projecting unpleasant yet unknown results, we have a few options: we can leave the pictures in our mind and be curious about the real outcomes and flow with it.
Or we might want to change the pictures in our mind and make them pretty or pleasant at least and then see what the experience brings and go with that. In good old Beatle fashion- let it be.

Isn't it interesting, that it doesn't really matter what we do- but how we let go of measuring what is against what we like to think should be?

To master your fear of change, you can either master the change. Or change the fear.
It's up to you, the master.

To listen to a song reffering to this, please check out CLIFFS OF INSANITY by Diva Eve. I wouldn’t tell my boss that the most important thing for me is to accept myself for who I am and feel that what I do is making me feel content and peaceful.

I find it rather fascinating that one question can have so many different answers and that those answers relate back to the same person.

Sometimes if you put all the answers of “what do I want” next to each other, the way that they can even exclude each other is amazing:

For example the answer to what do I want in my diary is: I want to live a happy life with my family, I want a house, I want babies, I want to be cosy and cuddly harmony.

When talking to my boyfriend it’s more: I want romance, I want adventure, excitement, I want to be seduced, I want to be wild. I like a bit of friction and cultured argument. I want to develop and grow together.

When talking to my girlfriends it’s: I want to go out, I want to be free, I want to buy shoes and bags and not worry about money, I want sex in the city style light conversation and I want deep connections, too.

When talking to my boss it’s: I want a raise, a promotion, I want more attention, training, I need to move forward, I want support and recognition.

When I talk to my coach it’s: I want to transition into full time life and confidence coaching and make money from my music. I want to write my book within the next few months and I want it published, I want an ever-growing mailing list and I want to conduct workshops using my coaching skills and music to inspire and motivate people.

When I talk to my therapist it’s: I don’t’ know what I want.

Many modern approaches to success and happiness focus on “get what you want” or “you can have what you want” yet this can cause distress beyond measure. Not knowing what you want is usually rooted in confusion rather than unknowing. So let’s untie the knots:

Malcom Gladwell writes about the power of context in “the tipping point”. The power of context means that behaviour is a function of social context. In the 1970s a group of social scientists at Stanford University conducted an experiment creating a mock prison and observing volunteer prisoners to see if prison was a place for bad people or if indeed it would make people bad. The experiment was to last for 2 weeks but was called off after 6 days as the situation went out of hand: the innocent socially aware volunteers had engaged in behaviours unknown to themselves and it seemed that cruelty was breeding its own ideas, the prisoners started shifting identities from who they knew they were to i.e their number. (the tipping point, page 153f)

So if our behaviour is so strongly determined by our social context, how much of what we want has really to do with us as such?

Just as we would choose differently if we were lost in the jungle from if we had some time on our hands after work for once, some wants relate to our situation and others relate more to our disposition.

Our situational wants are desires that arise through “our world” or parts of our world. From wanting to detox after Christmas to getting rid of a flat mate to changing jobs.

On the other side are the desires of the heart, the wants, goals, and wishes that we create from the context of our personality, personal history and of course the fine mixture of beliefs, ideas and values. For example creating a career from your passion, exploring how far your mind can stretch, moving forward in your relationship.

Even our personality is shaped by a context of our environment. A person who grew up with loving caring parents has a very different understanding of relationship and emotional security than one who has lived through fighting and frequent break ups.

If you really want to know what you really want, why not play with the different contexts and note down

What you want in the context of your work/career (these may be 2 different things!)

What you want in the context of relationship

What you want in the context of your living environment

What you want regarding yourself and your life- what gives you meaning or happiness,
fulfilment, joy, content.

What you want in relation to living your dream.

Don’t be afraid of contradictions, they are paradoxes.
And a paradox may be a contradiction on one level but makes sense on the next higher level. So off we go, moving on up, moving on out…moving on up, nothing can stop me!

PS: a nice thing to want is to listen to some gooood music…how about “ I won’t give up” by Diva Eve.

Available on itunes. First I am getting my 3 new songs produced- 1 is almost done, just needs the mixing. the 2 others will be recorded by the end of this month I hope. My producer has been busy on arrangements, so we should be all set. I am soooo looking forward to it. It's just an incredible feeling to be in the studio and get your stuff done.
ON wednesday, I sang one of my new songs- yet to be produced- called "grumpy" to my new friend Chloe when a guy stopped to say: you have an amazing voice! do you sing in a band?
no not at the moment, I said.
You should!
well, I said, in that case, let me know if you want to join, here is my card.
As he then got his out in return, it turns out the guy works for Columbia records!!!
Yeeehaa, she says, keeping a straight face though with a cheeky smile.

So now dear friends, let's have a meeting at Columbia records and for those of you, who have contacts in the industry, now is a good time to put them forward. Let the betting begin!!

Lots of Love,

Diva Eve
PS: want a free ticket to go to breakthrough to success?* valued £800- I just did my NLP master results with christopher howard, so I have access to tickets for 10 quick responders. Do it for the right reasons, and know what you are
worth… know what your time is worth too. Most entrepreneurs piss away 90% of
their day not doing things that ultimately make their company money. And if
you aren’t doing something that makes your company money, then you are
actually costing your company money. I’ll share you a great story on what I
mean, an it’s the fundamental element that has made my company the success
it has become most recently. About 20 months ago, I had a conversation with
one of my mentors in life. His name is John… that’s actually his name by the
way, I haven’t changed it to protect his privacy! John has a net worth over
30 million dollars and he’s only 25 years old. When I asked him what he did
that made his company such a success he gave me a great strategy. He said he
made a list of the things that he is uniquely qualified to do in his
company. There were only 7 things. And he vowed to only do those 7 things
during work hours, and all other items of the business he would delegate. He
had me make a list of my uniquely qualified duties for my job. I did, and he
told me to hire staff to do EVERYTHING else. I immediately countered with
common sense. I told him that hiring people to do everything else is easy
for him to say, he has a net worth of 30 million dollars. I don’t have that
kind of money and it’s not as easy for me to just go out and hire enough
people to do all those other business duties. He paused for a moment and
replied… “Yep, and its attitudes like that, that will keep you from ever
being worth 30 million dollars. When I started my company, I couldn’t afford
to hire all the people I did, but I did it anyway, and that’s why I have 30
million and you never will until you change your attitude.” That was the
best spanking I ever received! So know what your time is worth!

I appreciate the point in this article. Last night I was up to change the webtext and paypal buttons on www.thedatingschool.co.uk ( my boyfriend's business) and I wondered myself : why am I doing this? Why don't I let him pay to get it done? Yet I was not picking up the phone though I had the number of my IT and marketing strategist Sol from Cynergise.
It was about something else for me. The desire to help Thomas where I could and show him that he doesn't have to be let down by his friends in business. People around him find too many excuses. I know this too well from when I depended on people who brought up their reasons for not prioritising on my projects...

I also really wanted to know how to do it and once I started, it was fun and then I was on a mission.
I was utterly tired last night when I finished at 2am.

This morning I woke up and went straight to the computer starting to work on my site. I had this nudge that said-if I had spent all that energy into my site, I would be in a very different place! funny though, as I was in the flow from last night, it went really quick, I cracked new things yet again, that I hadn't mastered last night and just got on with it. the whole divaeve.com is updated and fresh.
I have included a recommendation and link to you as well!

So what am I uniquely qualified to to?
One of my strenghts is the way that I am able to develop skills rapidly and my greatest asset I think is my energy.
I feel I am uniquely qualified to inspire people through my work, personality, my voice.

If I was to focus on one thing it would mean not doing my music right now. For I am in a place where my focus is on bringing in the money. For that allows me to move my music, get the house-ok 1 bedroom flat seems to be a challenge enough at the moment, go out to the theatres and beautiful places in this world and that makes me feel successful.

What brings me the most money and opportunities at this point is my work in the licensing world. I enjoy it, I grow in it, I am building a rather delightful reputation as "the most efficient person in the world" and opportunities are opening up to me. Why? Because I have more than one skill and I am able to direct and develop these skills in a direction of making more money and improving the structure and business.

So if it was about "focus on one thing "I would go with that at this point.

Though I am qualified to inspire people, what has brought me the most fruit in my life so far was opening up to the idea that I can do things in contexts I didn't even know existed.
I have always been a strong believer in my core quality, but so much so, I resisted to take it outside the world of art/music/performance for a long time.

I only discovered how amazing my mind can work in solving problems when I started organizing people's lives and business. When others need help, something in me springs to action and I have resources available to me I didn't even know of before!
My guiding motto being that successful people do what others don't want to be doing.
So I just figure it out....

Focussing alone won't make you rich, it's about what you focous on, and how exactly you do it.

I hear about people trying to focus on this and that and blaming themselves for not focussing on this that and the other, I can't take this too seriously anymore.
Especially music focussed people tend to not be very focussed on their monetary success for example ( money isn't everything, money can't buy you happiness, yeah it would be nice, it will come)

When I was in my focus phase, I would endevour to do one thing only. Concentrate on my own music only...next thing I knew- a paid gig was offered in the cabaret scene. Do I say no now beacuse I am to be focussed?

Well, principally it's not my own music, but it will get money and that is very much needed as well and I can even put my own songs in the set, it's just a different style.

The problem lies within having multiple goals at the same time. On one hand in this case focussing on the music and on the other hand, wanting to make money.

If the money and your focus aren't on the same line, it will be useful to come up with some solutions! Otherwise we encounter the common case of feeling bad working for money because it takes away from what you want to focus on and feeling bad doing whatever it is because of being too tired or because feeling you should do it more.
Or we see people who then decide to leave working for money behind in order to focus on their focus and then feel a bit bad because they are running out of money. Though they often become incredibly skilled at denying that and blending that simple little basic fact out until it hits them a little bit harder than they would have expected.

So if you want to make yourself miserable by doing what you want, this is the way forward. Just make sure to include a good portion of blame whatever option you choose and you will never fail to feel bad! It's simple, it's free and it works.

I believe in focus in a more specific way- focus means zooming in, so first I need to know what it is that I want to zoom into and then I need to allow myself space and time to do so making sure that other areas of my life will benefit from that as well.

I realized that in the day, I like to focus on my work- rather than getting 100 things done for my music as well.
My day job at the moment brings me the cash and platform to develop more business skills and mindset plus understanding of people in the "real world". This is what I then use to communicate my ideas, coaching skills, inspirational works etc. It is also my playground for my success strategies and NLP exercises. Later in the day, I will be confident to coach businesses which will be a further development of my coaching career. I like having sustainable options. I have personally benefitted a lot from this already. I would think that my boss and 4kids Entertainment have, too.

Then I allow myself to defocus and soften so that creativity can flow and ideas can come and inspiration may uplift me. I like to nurture this feeling and that means doing things that are outside what I am good at right now. Learning new things is such a great thing to do!!

I think that updating a website is a skill which saves a lot of money!
Now that I have done it, I don't have to do it again and again, it's not my main passion in life, it's a skill and a new security- I will teach Thomas how to do it.
I would also recommend Sol of course. He showed my what I had done wrong when I got stuck. That's sooo useful and I am really grateful for that. I don't want to have to pay for every question in life. But I am more than happy to pay pack with recommendations and leads.

Focussing on key skills and outsourcing the rest is a good strategy to make money- and is especially good when you have a budget, not the 30million but a budget. I would say that learning the geneal skills for a while more than useful and a great foundation to build a solid business and your own independence.
It's about self-sufficiency and confidence through competence. It's about being rounded as a person and not just a one field expert.

To focus or not to focus, that is not a question, it's a case study.

Alternatively, you may just get on with what you wanted to do all along.

Check out the updated website: www.divaeve.com

PS:If you are a musician and would like marketing training and coaching tailored to your needs, check out Innerrythm. The show went well. It's so easy to say that now but sooo much lies in this little sentence. It went well. Well, let me let you in on a secret. It was a real challenge. 10 days to the show and only 1 ticket had been sold! I had created posts, comments, written to the press, I had helpers who were promoting, I had flyers, newsletters, ticket offers. I did it all and yet it seemed I was going nowhere with the sales! Meanwhile the show was coming together nicely. My dancers Ryan Curtis and Sophia Hooper worked their butts off. It paid off, they were awesome, especially Ryan- he is seriously professional.
My friend Sol- www.effortlessexpression.com created a competition on my site and this helped attract more interested people. We also contacted Madonna fan sites and had them blog about the show. Thanks to Sol and his energy, I got my motivation back and went for it..contacted more people, more press...there is a great interview on www.gaydarradio.com and www.rainbownetwork.com in the night life section...I was soooo pleased that they interviewed me. Brilliant!
Anyway, 2 days to the show and 11 tickets had been sold. Not very impressed given the fact I had to pay everyone. So...anywho...I cancelled the professional camera team and organized a second camera- borrowed from my dancer. Bought a tripod. My lovely Man came to film and take care of plenty of last minute disasters. I.e. my £15 dancers tights ripped 30 mins. before the show. So he had to get me new tights from boots. Have you ever sent a man to buy tights? I am seriously impressed with him. He called me slightly panicky: they dont' have what you want!
There are thousands of different tights but I can't find the ones you told me to buy!
He did get the 15 denier ones in S and M, you never know and I ended up wearing both...the curling iron didn't work, it ended up to be due to one faulty plug, but Thomas bought me a new adaptor nevertheless. And a sandwich...

I had decided to make this a good show and enjoy it, the sound was going to be phenomenal and lights make all the ambience of a dream come true.

The room filled up nicely with around 50 people!! Every chair was taken, some people were standing. It was great, the atmosphere was amazing, people were having a great time and I was ON!

What a ball I had, making up my comments in between the songs. I guess the years of comedy experience have paid off in the end...

The dancers were sooo cool, aaahhh it was a wonderful evening. I saw the video so I know it was good for the audience and hey- I am editing a great little demo out of it to get more gigs etc.

After all this though it was time for me to wind down and get into the groove of Christmas.

And new year. Resolutions are those things you do between the 1st and the 7th January, right? So I don't have to talk about them anymore, luckily. I was thinking of starting smoking at the end of last year so I have something to give up and brag about but it seemed to much of an effort...
Loosing weight, happened all on its own. If you are trying to loose weight: produce a Madonna tribute show and make sure you carry all responsibility. And do your dance rehearsals on top, you will be just fine.

What have I learned from this experience?
-You can do everything right: it doesn't mean it will work out
-challenging time breeds opportunity for great surprises!
-help can come out of the blue, the red, the purple or from friends and those who grow to be such
-hard times show you who is at your side
-the power of the mind is amazing; deciding to enjoy myself was a powerful step for my personal success. In order to be happy we sometimes need to disconnect financial and personal success, artistic and material goals
-peace lies beyond panic
-deperation is only the gate to letting go of expecations.
-being clear about the original goal helps. I had organized the show to create a video,it would have been great to become a super producer, promoter on the way but I actually want other people to have a job, too!

So People of the world, let's live. Let's be alive! this year is about feeling and respecting ourselves and the ones around us even more, to enjoy our life and be with it. This is about me, the way I relate to Madonna and what I do which is being Madonna.

It all began when I was 15 and took a holiday with my American host family in Florida.
I was wearing my sister’s sunglasses and some guys were screaming: Hey Madonna!
I thought they were making fun of me.
It happened 2 or 3 times in one week.

I forgot about it as you do. When I went back to Germany everything was back to normal, I was Evelyne and went to school, did my Abitur etc. I wanted to be an actress.
I auditioned and I played at the theatre, singing as well. I got compared to Nina Hagen which was a great compliment at the time.

Actually Madonna was the first popstar to catch my attention.
My babysitter was watching” formel 1” which was Germany’s equivalent to “top of the pops”
and they showed Madonnas video clip of Material girl. I had sneaked in and stared at the screen. There was this woman in pink who was getting presents from well dressed gentlemen and she took the presents and pushed the men. They fell down stairs and I was shocked. I loved the music with it, it was extremely powerful but I did not understand why she did that.
“why does she push the men away? They gave her presents. Shouldn’t you say thank you?”
My babysitter, Roxanne simply replied: this is Madonna, she does such things.
I wasn’t sure weather I liked this Madonna or not but she did have an impact.
I did like ABBA and as soon as I had a recorder I played ABBA’s melodies under the kitchen table. I was then declared musical.

I didn’t fall for pop music until Belinda Carlisle’s circle in the sand. I loved that song. Belinda Carlisle’s la luna was the first and only single I purchased.

Aha, Depeche mode, all that simply passed me by. Papa don’t preach was the other big song in my life. I understood that it was about being pregnant unwontedly and about feeling that dad should respect me for who I am and for what I do. I loved that song and sang it on the toilet. I remember Alex, a tall girl who looked quite mature and had spiky hair with much hairspray in it. She sang it even louder. She was really cool. She wore a stripy shirt that showed her naked shoulder. I was wearing a pink sweatshirt with a cartoon character and blue codroys.
These were the days I would practise breathing when doing a number 2 because it would come in handy when giving birth one day, I gathered. Papa don’t preach!

Oh well, isn’t it nice to Live to tell!
PS: come and see me live…in London at Too2 much on December 16th. £15- one third goes to Shelter Wakadogo charity to help children in Uganda…
Tickets: ticketweb.co.uk
warning: may have lasting uplifting effect.

She had decided to move to Brighton to live with her prince of that time when an email reached her that $600,000.00 was to be invested into her debut album in LA.
This is my LA story:

It was after my show “big apple bite” which was a sell-out at the Firebird Café, NY’s “best place to hear Cabaret” (Village voice 12/00). I had been discovered by June something rather and she was my neighbour. She asked for a Demo, which she sent off to a contact in LA, Mr. Hank Ballard. He had written the most famous song ”let’s twist again” and his memoirs are in the rock and roll hall of fame. Mr. Ballard got back to June telling her that I was the Next Big Star and it felt to him as if he knew me for a long time just from hearing my voice; he knew I was the one he had been waiting for so long to bring out. Forget Madonna, I was going to be bigger.
One may imagine the impact of such words. I like it a lot!

However I had just packed my bags and kissed NY good-bye when the message was delivered. I had for too long lived without the man I had fallen for, it was time for me to start my home after having done the NY thing- waitressing, studying, writing, networking, performing all on my own living in the most run down place you can imagine.

All you fellow cinderellas out there, we know that when a prince comes to the rescue, one is not to resist. Mr. Hank Ballard was coming to the rescue…

So I went back to NY being told that the place I had lived in was not going to be available any longer, I had 4 days to find a home. Apparently this is impossible if you have hardly any money.

I got very very lucky, shall we say blessed, shall we say I am guided, shall we say…
I was invited to stay the weekend at the Yoga Ashram as a guest.
I was delighted. What an honour. I had done a lot of Karma Yoga there, which basically means I cleaned the dishes in return for Yoga class passes. (Actually Karma Yoga means you do something to create good Karma, without wanting in return, but hey- free Yoga, that is cool and a Karma bonus indeed!)

The weekend was delightful and I offered to clean in return for their generous hospitality. This was gladly accepted. I started on things that lacked in regular attention such as light switches. They really appreciated this and asked me if I didn’t want to stay for a week or two doing this. Perfect! I aspired to prove myself the most valuable cleaner to have around, succeeded and got promoted to executive fan and light cleaner with advanced Buddha Polishing responsibilities. This just goes to show you can make a career out of everything. Reach high but ask for the ladder…

June and I spoke nearly daily on the phone: Hank Ballard was to get his money released from his investment and had a lawyer involved who then got an extra $5000 just to speed up the process. He wanted to rent a flat in LA, bring me over so we can get started. In the next 10 to 14 days, the money would be released.

Meanwhile he was being active in contacting the record people and other big producers to set up the machinery that was to propel me to the top of the charts.

As wonderful as it sounds when you get your dream story laid out like this, I did wonder if it was for real. How about meeting this man for example?
Next week we were to call him. I met June in a hotel in Manhattan from which we called him downstairs on the payphone. She was never calling on her landline. I wasn’t allowed to talk on my landline to her. She said that nobody was to hear about this yet. The secret must be kept as other people could get behind the concepts and destroy our plans. She said that the porter Frank knew more than you would think. Apparently he was listening in on conversations. I would say it sounds too weird to be true but then again some aspects of NY are very very strange.
Hence I had conversations with Hank Ballard from payphones in various hotels and restaurants. It was like a film. Quite exiting.
Hank Ballard was lovely, warm and kind, he kept telling me that he just knew we were going to make it big. Basically, he saw that he was too old for a come back, but with me his songs could be brought to life. We were also going to record some of my material. He was going to get the best people on board; after all he had been in the industry for 40 years or so.
He knows that a lot of producers only want to sleep with the artist but that’s not what he was about, he was good with the ladies, no doubt but that was because he always treats them with respect and that was his secret. Respect. Don’t force anybody into anything.

I liked what I heard. I asked about the flat situation. He was going to get a house by the beach and sort it all out.

They had started work with another artist 2 years ago but she had ducked out because she was afraid of success. How many people are afraid of success! Now Evelyne, you are different, so don’t be stupid. When an opportunity presents itself you must take it. How often do record stars knock at YOUR door to get you? So many artists struggle ALL their life, how lucky was I to get my big break so young?

She was amazing at wrapping me up into a world of her words. An interesting trait I noticed on NYers is the multi-threadening of stories. They start one story, change it- sometimes mid sentence- to start another story and do so with up to 5 subjects or so at a time, freely swapping between them without warning. At first I thought that because of my language skills (after all I am not a native speaker) I needed to catch up. It’s over time that I realised these people do not have the awareness, nor concentration to actually finish their sentences or threads.
I now know this is a powerful tool you can use to manipulate people with…it does make you feel a bit trancy as you loose yourself in the web of threads and unfinished stories.
In the case of my “agent” June, this web felt sticky. That’s what I could feel. I denied this to myself as much as possible, writing endless pages of my diary on clearing your mind, patience and the art of non-attachment.

One day she took me to a restaurant on 42nd street I believe and they were busy. “Sorry madam, we are full”
She got so angry at them: “Do you know who this is?” She almost yelled at the waiter pointing at me. “She is going to be bigger than Madonna. You wait and see. She is a STAR, you understand? Now if you are too busy for me, I will soon be too busy for you. I have been coming to this restaurant when you hardly had any customers. I am very very disappointed. Where is the manager? She will not go and eat here with all her producers…”

How embarrassed can you get? I thought my mom saying silly things in front of my friends was be bad…
The next week I actually had to go back to that venue for an album launch performance. I just hoped they wouldn’t recognize me,” the graaaatest stooor” .

The LA story got bigger from week to week but with no tangible results in view. William Morris Agency was hot on me; the deal with Sony music almost agreed. The money would free up in the next 10 to 14 days.

The money was to be freed up in the next 10 days for 2months. It amazes me how time passes and doesn’t pass. I couldn’t help but wonder: Will my break be always 10 days away?

We were going to move into a cottage together, all 3 of us, so we could work whenever the muse hit us and if we had an idea at night, it didn’t have to go wasted, you know.

This is my new definition of a nightmare! I like sleeping at night, I like my private space and as far as I was getting to know June, she was the last person on earth to live with. I hadn’t even met Hank but quite frankly I wouldn’t want to live with my boss, no matter how nice he is. I wanted to live with Steve!

How was I to tell them without my big dream falling to pieces again? If I upset them, would they not take it all away from me?
When I asked questions such as: do you think the money will be released soon? Will I get a contract soon or when will I meet this guy? I heard: “do you think he would pay a lawyer $5000 just to speed up the process?”
“Do you think he would tell the music world down there about you if he wasn’t serious about it?”
“ Do you think Hank Ballard would make a fool of himself? He is putting a lot of trust in you and he hasn’t even met you, he is setting it all up, why would he do all that? This guy is a millionaire, he has had his success, he could be lying at the pool sipping cocktails but he is running around going though all this to make it happen for you!”

Hmmmm. I just like to see things happen, for me it’s all words. I am cleaning to have a roof over my head and I get up at 5:30 because I am waiting for is something to happen in LA. I have a man waiting for me in England, I really want a home.

“Oh oh how many times have I traded love for fortune and I wish I hadn’t, how I regret that now”
June was so hard to talk to. She said she was psychic…and not only did she see all those lights around me and all the good things I had going for me, but also that there was a guy in a big car in LA waiting for me.
And Hank had said he wouldn’t let me go out on my own because it’s not safe down there and they would all want me cause that’s the way it is with new sexy stars but you have to be careful who to trust. But I was lucky because he would take care of me and he is a real gentleman. Not one of those womanizers but a real gentleman who respects women.

What was I to do? Throw it all away because of one woman annoying me with her weirdness? If I wasn’t to deal with weird people, how was I ever to make it in the music industry? Was she the challenge on the road to my happiness? Am I not weird in my own way? Jumped from Cinderella to high Royalty before it’s even happened. There is always a price to pay…

Hank decided as things may take slightly longer than expected, it may be good for me to have a flat in NY so that I had a base. I loved the idea. What’s the budget? $2000 a month.
Brilliant. Thank you, Hank!
When he heard that I was living in a shared room with 3 others having to clean for my bed, he was outraged: “How dare they make me clean!! Do they not know who you are??!!”
I told him I appreciate he feels so passionately about it but these people were actually giving me food and shelter!
“You are a big big star, you should never have to clean for other people! I am going to get you out of there. They are going to regret they did that to you”
I found that strange. I actually learned a lot from my experiences at the Ashram. I got up each morning at 5:30 for mediation followed by our Yoga practice. Breakfast and then I’d head up to a room to do my singing exercises. By 9am when the centre opened, I was fresh and rehearsed ready to go and write down songs with my pianist/arranger Tedd Firth (who now plays for Bette Middler)

My way of keeping sane in this world of promises and dream spinning was to meditate and allow myself to feel the depth of the confusions which turned them into valuable soul lessons. Once a week when June took me for dinner and we called Hank from payphones and cell phones, I was the next big thing and the rest of the week I didn’t know where my life was to go. Steve needed to look for a place to stay in Brighton as he was couch surfing and got a room for a few months. Was he looking for himself or for both of us? I couldn’t say! Was I living in NY or going to England? Was I becoming famous or totally broke? Was I going to need a proper job and some education? Was I starting over in Brighton? Was I going to have a family or not or what?

My job was dealing with the fans in the service of the light. I thought that was hilarious. Better get used to dealing with the fans I thought climbing up the ladder step by step with my cloth and water bucket in hand.
The light also needs attention and a bit of a clean so you can see it in its brightness. Clean where others don’t even look.
Very valuable teachings!
The Yoga community gave me a sense of connection I had not had before. I was more of a loner since leaving home at 19, I lived on my own going my way until I met Steve who was so like me and even more of a loner.
He was looking for enlightenment, I was after stage lights. Same Same, different. But that is another story and shall be told another time.

Did I mention William Morris was hot on me and Sony and in 10 to 14 days…
I know I did, they just told me again and again. And again. Nothing happened!

I went flat hunting. I finally found a flat. It was a bit discerning to answer the ever so usual “so what do you do then?”
Well, I got a record production deal kind of and I am cleaning Buddha statues and rooms in a Yoga centre right now.

But I did find a flat and needed $300 deposit. I decided that this was going to be my test. If he couldn’t pay that, he was definitely not for real.

And guess what, after having another rant at my Yoga Ashram for letting my dust off fans, he had the nerve to tell me the money was going to be released in 10 to 14 days.
I was not asking for thousands. I needed $300 to get this flat for a few months, no big advances, no contracts to sign. Just 1,200 a month and those $300.

“ Just wait another 10 days” He had no idea what it means to find a flat in Manhattan.

I had set 2 months to explore this opportunity. I had cut 2 months out of my life to see if this was my dream coming true, living in total suspension.
None of the promises seemed to happen: He didn’t’ want to fly out to NY because he was scared of flying. Because he was recovering from cancer. There was no contract because things had to be finalised. Because the money wasn’t ready.
And I needed to trust. LA doesn’t work the way I think. “It’s not Germany, you see”.
Stories, stories, weird weird stories, he knows x who knows y who said that because 20 years ago when this famous V said to H that in the XYZ show in G-channel TV you would do this and that. They are waiting for me since the invention of T. Producer O who also won the F awards; MTV, Sony and the Warner Brother did Y with X from I at he O-Gala.
It all began to melt into a big alphabet soup in my mind.

I had enough. I needed to get out. I decided that even if it meant giving up my big break, it was better to get rid of June and this spinning in my head than go for this. If this was what stardom was about, then I’d rather have a normal life, thank you.

And if I was so shit hot as they said, I would make it in England.

It was time to take my life into my hands again. I had lived in suspension for too long. How many people come and knock on your door? Well, Hank Ballard did and others may well do, too. If the Universe is so wonderful, I better give it a chance to reveal its miracles.
warning: may have lasting uplifting effect.

He was placed under my wings for his work experience and I endeavoured to make his time at the office as much of an experience as I could.
I was very inspired to teach him all about organization and efficiency that I have learned and it was such a pleasure to see his amazement in his eyes. “you did all that?” he kept asking when I showed him the filing cabinets and organized structures I have implemented at my company. When someone looks at you like this, you understand that just because it’s your job, doesn’t mean you are creative with it, grew with it, taught yourself how to do it, figured out clever ways to work around problems others don’t even know existed. When somebody looks at you like this, you realize how wonderful it is that you have.

I have learned so much about how to get lots done with a minimum amount of effort. I can organize and coordinate and make things happen. I have become reliable and consistent. A few years ago, these qualities were rather far from me. I can be on time, I can finish a task on time, I can do the most “boring” things and still have a really good day.

What’s the secret? Antony understood it very quickly: The Secret to this success is to make what you do fun. It’s easy to say that if you love what you do, you will have a good life. We all know that some things are more fun than others. I am a singer-songwriter and I work in an administrative position. I know about this! However, the trick is to make what you do fun.
I don’t rely on too many external glamour points anymore. I have been disappointed often enough to see through glamour. The Glamour-success such as standing ovations at a performance, Champagne and kids screaming for my autograph are fabulous, no doubt but they don’t make you a happy person. They get you excited and happy in the moment, which also has a seductive tendency to make you dependent on them. To need the next success, big gig, more people wanting you, bigger record deal etc.

My mother taught me to see this success as a bubble bath: Enjoy it while you’re in it and then get out. You don’t want shrivelled hands. Bubbles are great to play with and look at and then they pop because that’s what Bubbles do. That’s the fun of it!

And what happens if your life just won’t give you these bubble experiences too often anyway? What if you just don’t happen to become one of those 2% who make it really big even though you believed in it all your life?
Ask my friends and family weather I believed if I was going to make it. Anybody will tell you that I did. Yet I haven’t made it. YET. There is a little more to it. Or maybe less…( success also takes a certain amount of meritocracy)
Or if you have the great success and you get tired of it. Most people change over their lifetime. Very few actually want to stay in the same place for too long.

This is when PLAN B comes in. Now, if Plan B is a really good one with plenty of opportunity for you to grow, have fun, play, enjoy, succeed, explore, you will have a great life no matter what happens.

When I look back at my life later, and I spent most of it trying to make it…I may think: dang: I spent so much time trying to make it, I wish I had taken more time to live and enjoy it.
If I made it I may think: I made it but boy it was hard work. Was it worth it? Well in a way yes but then again I wish I could have enjoyed the journey more. Had it been less about the making it and more about enjoying…I think if I started again, that’s what I’d want.

If I make this a good life, I will look back and think: I had a great life. I made it and I enjoyed every step of the way.
Or: I had a great life, I might not have reached the big goal but it was such a fun journey to go. Going for the big goal took me places I wouldn’t have gone without it.

So Plan B stands for Brilliance, balls and beauty, bubbles, business and Bliss
Plan B allows us to go into the heart of the matter.
Antony understands what playing office means. Many of my colleagues don’t. I think it can be fun to do the expenses for my boss because he gets really happy when he gets money back and he loves delegating the task to me. It makes him feel like a boss and I get to play moneypenny. I put on a tired face, then I trot to my desk and criticize the shape of my nails and have a cup of tea and sort the bills out.

I think it’s fun to play let’s send out a marketing pack. I log it in my mailing log and I write neatly on the address label and I take a compliment slip, we are so professional, we weigh and frank and put it on the table. Do you remember playing post office of shop as a child? Playing adult? Playing “proper”?
This is what having a dayjob is about…Play proper and get it done with a smile.
Antony got a real hang of it and used the “private and confidential” stamp to mark when he got through things. Stamp it. Done. Official. Stamp it again.

Antony wants to “make it”. I want to “make it”.
I have no doubt in my mind that he will make it. I can only wish for him that he enjoys every step of the way.
Let the race begin. It’s fun.
warning: may have lasting uplifting effect.

Well i have been quite confused about this for a long time..On one hand, I have always been told I had a good sense of business but why on earth did I struggle financially for so long? There is also a very infamous mental block not only artists experience when it comes down to business..the numbers. Once it comes down to doing your books, many many including me start thinking; I don' t want that, I don't need that, I can't do that. And then we just forget about it.
And one day when you realize you don't have the money other people seem to have, you start wondering and then the assumption that obviously you are bad with money sneaks itself into the belief system.
Enough of that.
Being creative does not mean that you can't do business. Being creative means you like fostering new ideas. This can be very useful when dealing with accounts It's about time to bring some ideas to dealing with the "boring side of business". Why on earth our teachers told us that it was going to be one or the other? Left brain preferences, right brain talent. Fact is we have both sides of a brain. We might as well use them. And get them to dance together.
Make numbers fun and colourful-what they give you is the amazing overview and clarity I was seeking. I felt personally insulted, when my dad asked me for business plans. I felt I wasn't trusted as an artist. Surely when you have the talent, good opportunities will come to you. Surely ,there are people who are good with the business side of things who will help. I can't be good at everything, leave this to the pros. I need to concentrate on what matters. Surely.

Unfortunately the great opportunities that came, vanished into the ether somehow. I might have gotten in contact with big producers, I even chased them up but the meetings wouldn't happen or get cancelled time after time after time. Offers weren't followed through by action, there were so many good reasons as to why things never really "worked out". I have too many examples of never happening opportunities. So now what?

The real question is this: what do you need to know to move yourself forward?

I could have decided to find the pros to take over the business side of things. Why didn't I get a manager and agent?
It's not that I haven't tried. I contacted managers, I sent out CDs, I had meetings, you can imagine the amount of rejection and ignorance on the way until I would find someone who wanted to work for me. One guy never called me back when he was supposed to organize something, the other one spent more time telling me what I had done wrong in the last years than ever coming up with something constructive.
As useful as it is to learn that I am disappearing up my own arse, I thought it would have been great to actually get out. My show wasn't good enough in his view, my music wouldn't sell because nobody knows me, all he wanted was to get me gigs as a Madonna tribute but even that he never achieved. My contacts advised me to stick with it. He is experienced. After 2 months of nothing happening on the positive side, I decided to stop the mysery.
Needless to say this is more than disappointing, as it took such an effort to find someone interested in the first place. boooohoo.

If only I knew how to move myself foreword, if only I knew how to sell Cds and get a record deal and be famous, wouldn't life be wonderful?

Maybe..

Every step of every way will bring forth new questions, challenges, possibilities and ask for decisions. The real question is again: what do you want? What do you need? What are the resources you need to move towards that? And very important: How can it be made fun?

I learned over time that as much as I didn't want to look at the business side of things too much-after all it takes the fun away, doesn't it- I also didn't want somebody else to be in total control and have to trust "they" will do it right for me. After all my experience taught me: they often don't! And how can you expect someone else to care about your matters more than you.

There are 2 sides of the coin. One side might be the creativity and musical inspirations. But without getting it out there using strategy to create the resources, contacts, inspire people to pass it on, where is it going?

In time I grew the motivation to look at the other side of the coin to find it's golden, too!

Resources became a keyword: I realized that I simply didn't have the financial, mental, energetical resources to really build myself as an independent artist. In other words: I got too tired, too frustrated, too failed, too poor, too sad to continue.
And that was the turning point. The best thing to do when you are tired is to sleep.
The good news is that after we sleep we often wake up more rested. The funny thing is we often think that when we sleep we will miss out.

The operation music career was switched to standby and I began to deal more with the "real business world". PA work, coordinating, training. It is amazing what a day job can do for you in the field of getting clear, stable, exercising consistency, practising persistance and feeling the wonderful reward of a regular paycheque. I find this more relaxing than a holiday! (life is so relative, isn't it)

The result: More understanding and motivation to bring the business to my music. Without having to push myself. I started wanting to learn more. And this is the crucial POD. ( point of difference) If you WANT to do something, chances are you will enjoy it. Passion, free will and personal decision are the most wonderful guides for your own inner and outer success. 10 years ago, you could have sent me to sleep purely talking about computers or technical set up. Some people did. I had no idea about office, excel, music programs. The mere thought of having to deal with it, got me highly agitated.
Today I am being called the tech Wiz and I reep admiration for my so called technical brains. I find Garageband boring and criticise the Technical support team for our database programs with loops they didn't even see.
How did it "happen"?
I wanted to start to use a computer because I understood it would make sense and make me look more professional. I got so easliy frustrated and stressed. One day a young man came to me for singing lessons and after his first session said he loved it but couldn't afford to keep it up. I asked him what he did and he answered he taught computing. Having enjoyed teaching him singing and sensing opportunity, I asked him if he wanted to exchange skills. This was the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
When I got stressed, he put his hand on my shoulders, gave me a quick massage and guided me through deep breathing. As much as I know about relaxation and deep breathing, doing it when you need it- That is the key.
He taught me how to train my brain to figure out ways to achieve what I wanted to do. He didn't always know how things worked. And sure enough, sometimes things don't! But he knew how to find a way around it and figure it out.
This is the most valuable lesson ever. I thought I didn't have the time to play around and try this and that and it's too confusing anyway. I learned, that the time spent playing is the best way to learn with fun and after a while, I could see through what I was doing. After the 3rd time of doing the same thing, even I can remember. It's actually possible. Then I got used to things being possible... it's only a question of how. And how is not a closed question but an invitation for your creativity...

Now I am absolving a small business course, I have done online business training, I take accounting classes. I find it so interesting and it makes me feel good:
when someone starts commenting: "there is no money in music" I don't feel desperate anymore. I have done my figures. I know what I need to sell to make money. I know it's possible! I know how much I need to sell to afford the producers for the new album. Now I am figuring out how to do it.

Whatever it is that you want to create in your life, however impossible it may seem at first sight- Everything that exists now, has at one point not existed. "Possible" is an attitude. Make it yours. It will give you wings!

PS: you can listen to my music on www.divaeve.com
my CD "who's your diva?!" is available via the website, too
-I had to say that, didn't I? Business! ;-)
warning: may have lasting uplifting effect.

Because I wanted to really train, properly train and extensively train, I auditioned for the finest acting schools in the land and took great care with studying the roles to show off my variety of skills and talents in hope for a placement...In Germany, the state schools are the best because their auditions are gruesome. so only a small selection of applicants will get in. To be more precise, there are between 400 and 1000 young aspiring actors and actresses trying to get one of the 5 to 10 places in one of the 14 schools of the country. I had my whole tour planned out, I wasn't going to miss any opportunity! So for 3 years, I went from audition to audition and thus travelled my home country. I thought it was a nice way to visit different towns and cities- after all I wouldn't have done it otherwise. It was a great adventure each time and my utterly positive mind woud inspire me with great hopes that this time they would understand what I am about...One school told me I was a great risk: they could see I had talent but one would not know where I would go with it so they decided not to take me. Another school would say: you need to be more internal...you play too extrovert. They would admit me to the second round though. Then I would be told that my voice had slipped from its centre. This is my favorite feedback! I have a slipped voice centre. I was 19 or 20 at the time and asked what I could do but they just told me that I had to get it fixed with speech therapy or something but they only wanted to take a centred voice. Now I must tell you that I have a rather low voice ( check out my music..) and this is how I am. But because of my height (5ft 3, 154cm) one would expect a highter voice. Edith Piaf was smaller than me and had a low voice but what do Acting schools know about that? I wish I had known at the time. But I was left stranded with a slipped voice centre not knowing how to take it. The great thing about auditioning is: you get to be judged by some guys who I almost doubt were successful actors themselves...they will always find something wrong with you. They say: it's not easy to be simple is it Miss Brink? Or: you must relax. Why don't you relax? or: I didn't believe that scene or: julia is not like that.
However they rarely if ever help or encourage you to free your potential, to grow, to learn. I got to the last round in Rostock, in the north of ( and former eastern) Germany. I was only praying not to get admitted there. It seemed to be the irony of life that the shaggiest of all schools would like me. But they decided not to take me on anyway: "what a pity, but last time you were better" -what a great way to be rejected!
After 2.5 years I had collected enough rejection -I could have rebuilt the Berlin wall from it.
But at the same time I had been singing and developing my music programmes, took singing and voice therapy lessons ( gotta sort that slipped vocal centre!), had 5 jobs and studied at Uni. I did everything but getting bored. I didnt' have time for that. My spare time I spent with my boyfriend arguing a lot about having to move away when they would take me...
It was a happy time. A musical theatre competition was announced and I decided to go for it. I had never been part of a competition and after my extensive application process, this is not the first thing I would go for.
But I figured that before extending my school portfolio to the musical theatre schools, it may be clever to check out the talent. I was so nervous when I found out I was competing wiht actual students from the musical theatre schools! Totally unexpected, i won a third prize!! You should have seen my face looking like a car when they called my name. Not like the entire car, just imagine the front lights. ( To look like a car is a German expression btw. so if anything you have now extended your cultural knowledge!) I could not believe it. They said that the way I interpreted: Dance 10, looks 3 (also known as "tits and ass" was very different and unique, very real and believalble rather than the usual superficial ditsy way. I was smitten. Thus I had the honour of competing nationwide in Berlin. And to be judged by the heads of the musical theatre school, the University of perfoming Arts...with the best reputation for Musical theatre studies in Germany.
I did ok but didn't go on. However I wanted to know if they thought I would stand a chance to study musical theatre...the judges weren't so sure: your voice has a big gap in the middle and that is very hard to fix. The transition is a challenge as it is, yours needs extra extra work.
Always good to get professional advice! At least you have a reason to be depressed. I recommend this; if you feel blue and sligthly down, go and seek professional advice about what you care most for and then you can feel really bad BUT it's justified.
I found the Big cheese and it did take quite some guts after that feedback to ask him seperately. He had not been in the room.."Mr. Walden, do you think I could make it into musical theatre school?" I needed some hope. Please just a nice word. A twinkle, something that shows me I am not a hopeless case... "if you want to go to musical theatre school, you can apply and do an audition and we will watch you perform"
said the tall grown man in the cowboy hat wiht the papa smurf beard and turned away.
I was devastated, I didn't want to go on, I didn't know what to think, where to go anymore. I felt lost inside and out.
Was anything ever going to work out for me? Why was it such a challenge? Were the standing ovation I had experienced at my first performance of my solo show not telling me there was something there? Well, the press had ripped me to shreds the next day...did it always have to be such hot and cold showers? Can't I just be successful?
To cut a way to long story short, I decided that I was going to do the audition for Berlin becasue otherwise I would always be scared of the Cowboy. And this is not how I lead my life. I auditioned for another musical theatre school with not much success exept staying with a new found friend from the singing competition. She is now a well known German cabaret artist. ( Christiane Weber)
So then...Berlin...I had prepared, the songs, the drama pieces and a dance routine: 1 modern, 1 ballet. Not that I had had a ballet lesson in my life but Schumann writes pretty music and I was going to dance a girl in the spring picking a flower. I might not have technique but I have a fantasy!
They tested our fitness level by getting us to run around the small hall and do exercises until exhaustion. This played out to out to my advantage; I was way too tired to be nervous anymore.
I sang: there are worse things I could do from Grease and put all my vulnerabilty and hate into it and looked straight at the white haired cowboy. "but to cry in front of you...that's a thing I'll never do!" I felt like I told him. I got through the first round.
They lined us up: all the candidates of second round: to look the teachers in the eye or the other way round: to get inspected. This was my chance. My singing teacher had taught me just before the competition that winning happened in your mind. It's all in your head. I had looked at him with doubt, he had simply smiled and said: give it a try. Today was this day I used this knowledge. I looked, piercingly at each of the teachers, one by one, especially when they looked at me and said in my mind and through my eyes wiht all my being: I belong in this school. You are going to choose me. I am the one. You want me to be in this school, I want to be in this school.
I looked at them until they would turn their eyes away, which felt great. The cowboy got the " I am not afraid of you, ok I am afraid of you but I will not let this stop me, you can't stop me being who I am and I will win."
I got through to the third round. We had to improvise a scene in the group. We were kids in an orphanage. My character evolved as an slightly autisitc girl who could not communicate well and with all force encapsulated herself in her world lying out her hair bands in different orders to mark her space, rocking back and forth, getting petrified at any interruption..
I don't know where this came from, I just let it be and went with it and enjoyed not having to get involved wiht the clashing egos that emerged in front of my eyes...I was busy being and playing being petrified and trying to protect my world.
We were taken in one by one for a final "talk". They sat me down and said: do you have anybody autistic in your family? No. Do you know anybody like that? no, this just came to me, I didin't know where from, I just went wiht it.
I could see they were fascinated. You are an actress, they said. I wasn't sure if that was a bad thing applying for musical theatre but can you imagine how good that felt?
We were not going to be told yes or no...we had to come back in the evening when a list would hang at the glass front doors, showing the names of the new University students...
I am used to being rejected, 27 auditions had passed and this was already a success because I had come to overcome my fear and to show what I could do. I had done well.
So for the afternoon, I treated myself with some Berlin culture: the sex museum.
Unfortunately it was boring and didn't manage to take away my thoughts about the big question...only by 5pm when I knew the names were hanging there, did I start to relax, understanding that it didn't really matter. One more or less...my life was going to be good regardless. if not here, than somewhere else. I am the creator of my happiness and I decided I am good at it. I strolled back leisurely...6pm I think it was. only 1 other guy came that late. I slowly slowly walked up to the glass door. Pacing every step. I wanted to stay connected to this new found sense of peace.
The new students are: bla bla, bla bla, bla bla, EVelyne Brink, bla bla bla...aaaaAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!! I screamed, I screamed louder. I am in!!! I am in!!! 27 times and I am in!!! This is me, this is MY NAME on the list!!! Oh my! The other guy was in, too so we both hugged each other and were very excited. So much to my peace! Wooooohooooooo!
The next hour when we had champagne and he kept talking about how easy it was for him to get in, are more of a faded memory...My life had changed just like that.
After 3 years I had won.
warning: may have lasting uplifting effect.

And a lot of it makes you wonder: how on earth did these people make it? What do they have that I don't?
You may think if someone has talent, they will make it. All it takes is persistence, contacts, maybe a lot of money, luck, the will to show yourself... Maybe you are someone who wants to make it. Good luck! ( and persistence and money and contacts and and and luck?).
Maybe you know that talent is not all that it takes. Maybe you know that "luck" is as relative as the relativity theory would expand!! Imagine someone wrote really heart felt songs that are generally liked by most people who hear them. Imagine that someone has a face that reminds a lot of people of Madonna and other people of someone else. Now that person also might sing well and dance and have a little brain of her own. Maybe that someone has personality even, who knows. Maybe that someone has all that it takes. But you have never ever heard of her!!
I am Diva Eve. Nice to meet me.

I have embarked on an exiting adventure, the journey of my dream: to touch millions of people with the music and performances I bring, to move you in the deepest corner of your soul right at the source of your joy, happiness, ease and FUN! I am here to connect you with the place where you feel so good in yourself that a grandiose smile lenghens from ear to ear and a fuzzy feeling of hmmmm arises along with what I call the" bubble luck" sensation. You know when it bubbles all through you when you get so enthused and excited about life?

I started performing at 5, started playing music, wrote my first songs at 9 or 10 and then secretely on my bicycle rides on my way home, i used to spend hours singing in the fields, making up melodies that freed my spirit to fly! But I didn't dare to show it though. Well, when I did, cause at some point you really want to show it...I got told I was rubbish..well that I shouldn't think I was Mozart and I shouldnt' steal music from Chopin. That was at a time I hadn't even listened to Chopin but I did love Mozart.
Anyway, I got told a lot of times how simple this was and how unamazing...so I kept it quiet as I understood what I do is not that great. I wanted to be an actress anyway.
I sang on stage and got standing ovations, and bad press all at the same premier performance. I was 19 and the critic thought I was a bit too Lolita. I was sooo confused, I thought the press would prove to me that this night of success was real.
I learned the hard way that if I wanted to get confident, I had to find it somewhere else..
My story is longwinded but to put it in a nutshell, fire and ice, ice and desert, little teasers of opportunities is what have marked my "career" so far.
I was signed with Sony at one stage but when I showed them my own songs they recommended me to write a musical. I studied musical theatre after applying to acting schools and going through 27 auditions, and then was kicked out after a year for being too unique, not the type for musical theatre. Go your way! You write songs and you should do it your way. They said. You know all your life you may be thinking; I will do it my way. But when someone forces you to, this is the LAST THING you want to do!!
I travelled a lot, spent 3 months in Thailand and rested...and wrote 16 songs. They just come out and out and I won't stop it. I put on a show and people loved it. Most importantly they gave me so much pleasure! It feels sooo good to sing them!
I went to NY to get discovered... Well I got my own show at the Firebird Cafe, which was the "best place to hear cabaret in NY" according to the village voice, so that was extremely cool.

I didn't stay in the big apple after a year though as love brought me to the UK...
I lived in brighton for a while, enjoying the sea and the growing frustration that still nothing was happening!! I tried and tried sooo many things, I could give you a reason for any suggestion you would make as to why nothing works.

then I really had enough.Enough of all that bullshit! So to change my life, I changed the way I thought. Not all of it! I like what I think. But I realized that some patterns were empowering me and others were bringing me down, leaving me stranded and feeling hopeless. boooohooo.

My life is not to be about how to struggle the most, what to give up and how to fail in 10 painful lessons. My life is about how you can have what you want and live what you really really want, how to enjoy the richness of the experience called life and how to be who you are. My life is about the song of my soul and the inspiration of many many others. I have soo much to give and share, I would like to get out there!

So how on earth do I do this?
This is what this blog is about...

I am logging my goals, my ideas, the strategies and I invite you to follow me on this adventure. I know that succeeding means to grow, to achieve what you set out to do. I know that it is possible to achieve goals when they are made achievable.
So if that's what it takes, then that's what I do. I also know it will take a miracle to get me from where I am to where I have seen myself ever since I was small.
I understand that miracles need a place to go, too. So I am creating a wonderful opportunity for this miracle to come and be with me. I also would like to invite you to join the party!

You are witnessing something very real, something that is going to move you to take your life and dreams in your hands. You can do it, too. Let's get inspried!!
Enjoy!
eve
www.myspace.com/divaevemusic
www.divaeve.com
warning: may have lasting uplifting effect.
